Mumbai Meri Jaan

Inspiration is a little like that.
And then you can never know what stokes the imagination.
Muses are surreptitious about their hiding places and they are all over the place.

One thing leads to another leads to another leads...another...
The Butterfly Effect.

So Chaos inspired a friend to sympathise with a City in turmoil.
Music and Numerics inspired him to express his sentiments.
He titled his post 'Mumbai Meri Jaan' and I got inspired to raise a Sawaal to it
and write my Jawaab:


tukdon mein bikhri si padi hain jo
yeh meri bhi jaan hain

andheri subahon mein thithurta sheher
jis mein mere bhi ghar ka makaan hain

hatheli se nikalta hua
galiyon mein pighalta hua
yahaan mere bhi lahu ka naam-o-nishaan hain

teri jaan hain jahaa
wahin meri bhi toh jaan hain

yeh sheher tera bhi jahaan hain
yeh sheher mera bhi jahaan hain
